C\ufeffonor McGregor<\/a> is edging closer to a return to the UFC<\/a>, with the former double-champ revealing 'ongoing negotiations' with the company.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old hasn't competed inside the octagon since suffering a sickening leg injury against Dustin Poirier<\/a> almost three years ago.<\/p>\n

McGregor has long been linked with a showdown against lightweight star Michael Chandler<\/a>, but there has yet to be a date set for the bout by the promotion.<\/p>\n

However, the Irish megastar has dropped a fresh hint regarding his UFC status and also revealed the clash with Chandler might not be the only one he's eyeing off given the structure of his current contract.<\/p>\n

"I'm looking forward to getting back and regressing, resetting and recalibrating and remapping my return to the octagon," McGregor said at a press conference.<\/p>\n

"I'm eager for that. We're in the first quarter of 2024. There's still a good chunk of the year left. I've got two fights left on my contract. Negotiations are ongoing.<\/p>\n

"When the promotional work of the movie comes to an end, when the St. Patrick's day festivities come to an end, it's isolation and it's focus, and move toward a return."<\/p>\n

McGregor (26-6) is widely-regarded as the biggest star in the history of the sport, with his rise through the ranks a decade ago taking the UFC to new heights.<\/p>\n

However, after three losses in his past four outings and a number of other ventures taking priority, 'The Notorious' has struggled to remain \ufeffactive since dropping the lightweight strap to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018.<\/p>\n

Chandler (23-8) has been clamouring for a shot against McGregor for a number of years and hasn't fought since late-2022, also suffering a defeat at the hands of Poirier. \ufeff<\/p>\n
