F\ufeffremantle<\/a> defender Karl Worner has been brutally knocked out in an accidental clash with Brisbane<\/a> forward Lincoln McCarthy.<\/p>\n

Worner and McCarthy clashed while contesting a mark across Brisbane's half forward line in the third quarter of their match at Optus Stadium on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

McCarthy's shoulder connected with Worner's head as they both dived for the mark, knocking the latter out cold before he even hit the turf.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old landed face first and was unresponsive until he was helped by club doctors and moved onto the \ufeffstretcher.<\/p>\n

Worner's neck was quickly put in a brace as he came to.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Worner gave the \ufeffFremantle faithful a thumbs up to confirm he was OK, and was given a standing ovation as he disappeared up the race.<\/p>\n

It was an unfortunate incident that proves the seriousness of head trauma in the game of Australian Rules<\/a>.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Fremantle were quick to jump onto social media to confirm the young defender was in good hands.<\/p>\n

"Karl Worner has been taken from the field after a heavy hit," Fremantle said on X.<\/p>\n

"We'll have more updates when we can, but for now, we're wishing Karl the best and hoping he's okay."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Updates later came through to confirm Worner was in the rooms chatting to club medical staff.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Brisbane also sent out a message on social media, wishing Worner the best after the scary collision.<\/p>\n

"Really hoping Karl Worner is alright after that big contest," The Lions said on X.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Fremantle was struck down by another serious injury just minutes later, with Oscar McDonald going down with a suspected hyper-extended knee\ufeff.<\/p>\n

It's a heavy blow for the Dockers, with McDonald finally getting another chance at AFL level, after playing 81 games with Melborune and another five with Carlton before signing with Fremantle as a delisted free agent in 2023.<\/p>\n
