Darren Lockyer<\/a> believes South Sydney<\/a> is "in a bit of trouble"\ufeff after watching a calamitous display against Brisbane on Thursday night<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Bunnies lost 28-18 at Suncorp Stadium and while the game was entertaining, it was riddled with errors and dumfounding plays from both sides of the park.<\/p>\n

All up there were 29 errors – 15 to the Broncos and 14 to the Bunnies – while the Rabbitohs also missed 42 tackles in what could kindly be described as a scrappy affair.<\/p>\n

Some of the mistakes also looked like ones made in junior football, rather than the best rugby league competition on the planet.<\/p>\n

South Sydney five-eighth Cody Walker kicked out on the full in the first half, before his halves partner Lachlan Ilias managed to kick into his own teammate, giving away an offside penalty.<\/p>\n

Later in the game the Rabbitohs somehow lost a scrum despite having the feed – a feat so rare these days it left commentators stunned.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Prop Sean Keppie was also penalised for a blatant blocking play, claiming he didn't know the rule change.<\/p>\n

"The moment they got fatigued \ufeffthey were pretty average, with the ball and without it," Lockyer said of the Rabibitohs on Nine's coverage.<\/p>\n

"They just looked pedestrian… I think the Bunnies are in a bit of trouble."<\/p>\n

South Sydney led the NRL at the halfway point of last season, before falling off a cliff and missing finals.<\/p>\n

The team is now 0-2 to start 2024 and coach Jason Demetriou was none too impressed with what he saw on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"I thought our defensive effort in the end result was outstanding, but we're just shooting ourselves in the foot," Demetriou said.<\/p>\n

"Whether it's we can't feed the scrum properly or first tackle errors, kicking it into our own player, penalties for blocking, just like… it was a horror show of just really little things that just kept putting pressure on ourselves.<\/p>\n

"It's concentration, it's one (error) generally leads to two, two leads to three because we're not concentrating and fatigue is getting in."<\/p>\n
