T\ufeffhe Roosters<\/a> have reportedly lodged an official complaint with the NRL<\/a> following Spencer Leniu's judiciary hearing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Morning Herald reports<\/a> the Moore Park club, which shares a precinct with NRL headquarters among other sporting bodies, was left unimpressed by the NRL's own legal counsel during Monday's hearing.<\/p>\n

\ufeffIt was noted by media at the time that NRL counsel Lachlan Gyles SC referred to Leniu by the wrong name and nationality.<\/p>\n

Gyles incorrectly called the accused player Spencer Luai and noted he played internationally for Tonga.<\/p>\n

Luai is in fact the surname of Leniu's former Penrith teammate Jarome Luai, while the now-Roosters prop is of Samoan heritage, not Tongan.<\/p>\n

\ufeffJudiciary chairman Geoff Bellew SC was forced to correct Gyles following his twin gaffes at the start of Monday's hearing.<\/p>\n

Leniu was fronting the judiciary after pleading guilty to contrary conduct, having called Broncos playmaker Ezra Mam a "monkey" during their game in Las Vegas a week earlier.<\/p>\n
