Sacked Wests Tigers<\/a> coach Tim Sheens<\/a> is making a return to rugby league – with the best schoolboy team in the country.<\/p>\n

Sheens, a four-time premiership winner and former Kangaroos coach, has been hired as a consultant by Westfields Sports High School.<\/p>\n

The school won the national schoolboys title last year, thrashing Gold Coast school Palm Beach Currumbin 38-4 in the final.<\/p>\n

Ironically, leading the charge was boom five-eighth Lachlan Galvin, who Sheens signed to the Tigers and who will make his NRL debut against Canberra in round two.<\/p>\n

"I've known the school's coach Troy Wheedon for some time and we started talking and one thing led to another," Sheens told Wide World of Sports.<\/em><\/p>\n

"It's a three days a week job and the school has some great young players who are thirsty to learn.<\/p>\n

"I've always enjoyed working with kids and it's an exciting new opportunity."<\/p>\n

The 73-year-old Sheens' lengthy career looked over when the Tigers sacked him at the end of last season, but he has wasted no time getting back on the horse and will play a key role in Westfields' 2024 campaign.<\/p>\n

The school, located in Fairfield in Sydney's west, has a rich rugby league heritage, producing a host of top grade players including Eric Grothe Jr, Jarryd Hayne, Krisnan Inu, Kris Keating, Matt Keating and Feleti Mateo from Parramatta alone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
