Sam Goodman<\/a> has sent a message to his critics, with a dominant win against Mark Schleibs putting him right into world title contention.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old was clinical against his bitter rival on Wednesday night, stopping Schleibs in the fourth round<\/a> after the referee waved it off.<\/p>\n

Goodman moved to 18-0 for his career, continuing his rise up the ranks at super-bantamweight and setting up a potential showdown with megastar Naoya Inoue<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the fight, Goodman didn't shy away from challenging 'The Monster' later this year and believes he is up to the task of challenging the world champ.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIf that's the opportunity that it presents itself, absolutely," Goodman said. <\/p>\n

"I am in this sport to be great. People wanna have a crack at people for what they think are risky fights – but aren't they the fights you want to be in as a competitor?<\/p>\n

"For all the armchair critics who say I can't do it, I will say up yours and show you I can.<\/p>\n

"World titles, that's the next stop – and we want them here [in Wollongong]. Whoever it is, any of them. I know I'm up to that level."<\/p>\n

Inoue (26-0) has run through the division in recent years, knocking out challengers from across the globe, and would undoubtedly pose the biggest threat to Goodman.<\/p>\n

Boxing expert and commentator Barry Michael was full of praise for Goodman, claiming his effort against Schleibs showed a different side to the 55kg sensation and urged him to take one the challenge of Inoue.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"It would be one of the biggest fights in Australian history and he is a chance of pulling off an upset," he said during the Main Event coverage.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffHe has always been a beautiful boxer and he has always had impeccable timing.<\/p>\n

"A brilliant exhibition of boxing. One of the most aggressive performances we have ever seen from him. He was really picking him apart."<\/p>\n

For now though, the focus for Goodman will be on celebrating the victory over Schleibs before getting back in the gym and striving for further success.<\/p>\n

"I\ufefft's good to be home … that was unreal," Goodman said.<\/p>\n
