Retired UFC<\/a> star Tyson Pedro has announced a surprise switch to boxing and will join the stable of Australian legend Danny Green.<\/p>\n

Pedro, 32, made a shock retirement from the UFC after losing to Vitor Petrino on Sunday.<\/a><\/p>\n

He then announced his boxing move at a press conference in Sydney on Wednesday, \ufeffwith Green, Nathan Cleary, Tyrone Peachey, Willie Mason, Matt Lodge, John Hopoate and Johnny Lewis in attendance.<\/p>\n

Pedro went 10-5 in his MMA career, including a brutal KO win at UFC 293 in Sydney in 2023 that showcased his pugilistic prowess.<\/p>\n

"I was born to be a fighter. I was 5-0 as an amateur boxer before I entered mixed martial arts," Pedro said.<\/p>\n

"I've never lost the passion for boxing and have visualised myself as a world champion in this great sport. Danny has been in the top three highest grossing pay per views in the nation's history and together we plan on making a statement."<\/p>\n

Green said Pedro would be a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n

"I've watched Tyson manhandle some very good boxers and his skill, power, and potential in boxing is real," Green said.<\/p>\n

"This beast is going to shake things up. He has the X factor and his fierce relentlessness in the Octagon will now be on display in the squared circle."<\/p>\n
