While Geelong<\/a> speedster Max Holmes hasn't put contract speculations to rest, he has given Cats fans a glimmer of hope that he'll be in the blue and white hoops beyond the 2024 season.<\/p>\n

Holmes, who heartbreakingly missed out on Geelong's 2022 premiership with a hamstring strain sustained in their preliminary final the week before\ufeff, is out of contract at the end of this year.<\/p>\n

Despite being just 21-years-old\ufeff, Holmes' blistering speed on the wing and through the midfield has been noticed by rivals clubs, who have naturally showed interest in his services.<\/p>\n

Holmes was relaxed when asked about imminent contract talks.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"We've just got to sort it out, I guess," Holmes told media in Geelong on Monday.<\/p>\n

\"Max<\/p>\n

"It's up to 'Mack' (Geelong footy boss Andrew Mackie) and my manager to sort it out.<\/p>\n

"Then, when they're happy with it, I'll be happy with it, I guess".<\/p>\n

The young Cat says \ufeffhis eyes are on round one, with Geelong facing St Kilda at their newly finished GMHBA Stadium in front of 40,000 fans.<\/p>\n

"I don't really know much about what's going on. I just let my manager take the reins and I stick to playing footy, and I'm happy with that," Holmes said.<\/p>\n

"At this stage, I'm more worried about round one than my contract.<\/p>\n

"I'm still contracted for this year, so I'm just here to play footy, and I'll let my manager do the rest."<\/p>\n

A few weeks back after Geelong's pre season match against Essendon at GMHBA Stadium<\/a>, Holmes remained coy around what position he'll play this season and if he'll take on a bigger middle role now that Cam Guthrie is sidelined for up to 10 weeks with a quad injury<\/a><\/p>\n

\ufeff"Not really sure at the moment. We're continually learning stuff in the pre-season and fidgeting around half back. It paid off today, but we'll have to change things here and there," Holmes said.<\/p>\n

Despite not knowing his exact role for the upcoming season, Holmes says he's happy to play anywhere.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I'm trying to get the coaches to fight for me, the line coaches," he joked.\ufeff\ufeff<\/p>\n
