E\ufeffssendon<\/a> legend Matthew Lloyd<\/a> has heaped praise on luckless ruckman Brodie Grundy<\/a>, whose first game with Sydney<\/a> showed he is once again a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n

Grundy was traded from Collingwood<\/a> to the Demons at the end of 2022,\ufeff with promise he would make up one half of a rucking powerhouse alongside Demons captain Max Gawn<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Instead, he was sent down to the VFL in order to hone his craft as a forward<\/a>, but struggled to make it back into the side, meaning he also missed out on the Demons' failed finals campaign.<\/p>\n

At the end of last season, Grundy made the call to move up north to join the Swans<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, after Sydney's commanding Opening Round \ufeffvictory over Grundy's former side Melbourne by 22 points<\/a>, Lloyd believes the ruckman is finally coming into his own.<\/p>\n

"He couldn't have had a better first game. He beat Max Gawn\ufeff and after half time, just got better and better," LLoyd told Wide World of Sports<\/em> after the win on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

"He was one of the key reasons Sydney won the game. He'd be ecstatic."<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old ruckman recently opened up on the "sobering" moment he knew his time at Melbourne<\/a> was coming to an end, after he was dropped from the senior side mid-season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Grundy explained that he has no hard feelings towards the Demons, especially after his dominant performance at the SCG on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

The big man picked up 23 disposals, four marks, six tackles and a whopping 33 hitouts on the way to victory in the red and white.<\/p>\n

Lloyd declared Grundy has finally landed at a club which is already showing his game style respect, as Sydney begin utilising his rucking prowess.<\/p>\n

"Brodie is a workhorse and he wants to ruck and be the number one ruckman," Lloyd said.<\/p>\n

"He hasn't been able to be that at Melbourne and he wasn't at Collingwood towards the end.<\/p>\n

"Getting to play to his strengths in Sydney, we should see the best of him again."<\/p>\n
