Socceroos<\/a> winger Martin Boyle is in a "stable condition in hospital" after a sickening clash of heads during Hibernian FC's Scottish Cup quarter-final loss to Rangers FC.<\/p>\n

In frightening scenes at Easter Road, Boyle lay motionless on the field and was subsequently taken away on a stretcher after colliding with Rangers defender John Souttar while challenging in an aerial contest.<\/p>\n

With Boyle coming off significantly worse in the incident, medical staff from both Hibernian and the Rangers raced to the 30-year-old's aid.<\/p>\n

Boyle was later transported to hospital via ambulance with Hibernian having since provided an update on Boyle.<\/p>\n

"Hibernian FC can confirm that Martin Boyle is now in a stable condition in hospital," the club said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"The winger went straight to hospital after the first-half collision against Rangers and is receiving the best possible care.<\/p>\n

"The club would like to thank the speed of both clubs' medical departments in attending to Martin on the pitch.<\/p>\n

"Everyone at Hibernian FC wishes Martin a speedy recovery."<\/p>\n

Having landed awkwardly\ufeff, Hibernian were concerned that Boyle had sustained a concussion and would experience neck soreness.<\/p>\n

While born in Scotland, Boye made his international debut for the Socceroos in 2018.<\/p>\n

He \ufeffwas named in Australia's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup but was ruled out on the eve of the tournament with a knee injury.<\/p>\n

Boyle was recalled to the squad last September.<\/p>\n

The incident will alarm Socceroos manager Graham Arnold with Australia's next World Cup qualifier against Lebanon in Sydney on March 21.<\/p>\n

Boyle was replaced by French footballer Elie Youan\ufeff as the Rangers completed a 2-0 victory to progress to the Scottish Cup semi finals.<\/p>\n

John Lundstram broke through in the 23rd minute before Fabio Silva's goal sealed the result seven minutes before full-time.<\/p>\n

The "Hibs" \ufeffwere reduced to a nine-man side in the second half as Jordan Obita and Nathan Moriah-Welsh were both sent off within three minutes of each other.<\/p>\n
