A\ufeffustralian captain Pat Cummins<\/a> has taken the crucial wicket of New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson<\/a> on day two of the second Test in Christchurch<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In his 100th Test match for New Zealand<\/a>, Williamson came out all guns blazing after Australia set a lead of 94 runs for the home side.<\/p>\n

Marnus Labuschagne held the Aussies together with bat in hand, making an impressive 90, Williamson, alongside Tom Latham, had some serious work to do.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAfter an early Mitchell Starc wicket, removing Will Young for just one, Australia looked clearly set to rip through the Black Caps.<\/p>\n

However, the veteran Kiwis dug in, with Williamson smashing six boundaries\ufeff, alongside Latham's seven to snatch back the lead.<\/p>\n

It took Australia a fair while to breakthrough, but it came at the perfect time, with Cummins standing up to his full might to remove Williamson for 51 off 107 balls.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffHe's knocked him over first-ball of the new spell … Cummins has done it for Australia," Craig McMillan said on commentary.<\/p>\n

"He (Williamson) knows he's made a desperate mistake and it's cost him. That is huge."\ufeff<\/p>\n

The wicket of Williamson proved a massive momentum shift for the visitors after a tough session, as the 33-year-old batter heaped praise on Australia's bowlers.<\/p>\n

"They're quality bowlers, the pitch has offered a little bit throughout," Williamson said.<\/p>\n

"It was just about implementing our plans and skills and try to build some partnerships. They made it tough out there. Credit to Tommy Latham, led the way.\ufeff"<\/p>\n
