Kyle Chalmers<\/a>' preparations for Paris 2024<\/a> have been rocked after his coach was banned from attending the games.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> reports the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) has relieved Peter Bishop of his coaching duties and opened an investigation.<\/p>\n

Bishop also coaches butterfly gun Matt Temple.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Following this investigation, SASI can confirm that Craig Stewart has been promoted to the role of head coach, with Peter Bishop reassigned into a role focused on developing talent and strategies as SASI aims to maximise success during the 2028 and 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games cycles," South Australian Sports Institute said in a statement.<\/p>\n

SASI did not provide a reason for \ufeffthe investigation.<\/p>\n

A statement from Swimming Australia confirmed Bishop had also been stripped of his coaching accreditation.<\/p>\n

"Swimming Australia has been informed of a recent investigation and findings by the South Australia Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing into South Australian Sports Institute [SASI] high-performance swimming program," a statement read.<\/p>\n

"This was an independent process and part of the recommendations include the restructuring of this program.<\/p>\n

"Swimming Australia respects the process and findings and has revoked Peter Bishop's coaching accreditation until the end of the Olympic cycle, upon which he is eligible to reapply."<\/p>\n

Bishop was Chalmers' coach when he won gold in the 100m freestyle at Rio 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
