Brodie Grundy<\/a>'s new football life as a Swan<\/a> began in superb fashion in front of a heaving crowd at the SCG on Thursday.<\/p>\n

But his path to a debut for the bloods was almost derailed by a slimy creature in Sydney's surf\ufeff.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old revealed he copped a jellyfish sting across his ear\ufeff while going for a swim at Bondi.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt's absolutely the worst pain I've ever felt," Grundy said in an interview with Seven post-game.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI don't wish that upon anyone."<\/p>\n

Luckily Grundy was able to recover from the unfortunate incident and lead the Swans to a \ufeff12.14 (86) to 9.10 (64) victory over his former club Melbourne at Moore Park.<\/p>\n

The ruckman was sensational in his debut for Sydney, amassing 22 disposals, nine clearances and 31 hit outs going head to head with former teammate Max Gawn.<\/p>\n

Grundy was a $900,000-a-year superstar at Collingwood before jumping ship to the Demons last year, only to struggle for game time.<\/p>\n

His one-two punch plan with Gawn failed to stick\ufeff and eventually led to him being snapped by the Swans.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt's great to be back out doing what I love, playing footy," he said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI don't take it for granted, it's great to be back out at senior level."<\/p>\n

Swans coach John Longmire couldn't have asked much more from his recruit in game one.<\/p>\n

"His second half was huge," Longmire said of Grundy.<\/p>\n

"He just kept going, just kept ploughing through. His second and third efforts, his work around the footy was enormous.<\/p>\n

"I just feel really pleased for him. He's got that one out of the way and now he can settle into his season now, and he's got another big one next week against the Pies."\ufeff<\/p>\n
