Rising Australian golf<\/a> star Min Woo Lee<\/a> secured his best PGA Tour<\/a> result yet to\ufeff book his place at an iconic event.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old stormed home in the final round of the Cognizant Classic \ufeffto finish tied for second, three shots off champion Austin Eckroat.<\/p>\n

Lee shot an eagle on the \ufeffpar-5 10th and carded a final-round 67 – one worse than his third-round 66 – to finish 14-under for the tournament.<\/p>\n

It was only his second event since joining the PGA Tour as a full-card member. Lee's previous best result on tour was tied for fifth at last year's US Open.<\/p>\n

At one point in the final round Lee found himself only one shot off the lead, but then struggled on some par-3 holes to miss out on the $2.5 million winner's cheque.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"Really proud of the way I handled myself this week," the young Aussie said.<\/p>\n

"Obviously bad swing on six when I made a double bogey on the par-3, which stung. I was off to a hot start there, and that kind of put me back.<\/p>\n

"To finish like that and to start after the rain delay like that, really good moment, and pat on the back.<\/p>\n

"Looking forward to the next couple events."<\/p>\n

The result also earns Lee a spot in the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida this week.<\/p>\n

His 245 FedEx Cup points earned in the past fortnight are second only to Sami Valimaki (300), earning Lee automatic selection at the Bay Hill event.<\/p>\n

"It's amazing. I was thinking about it coming down the stretch\ufeff," Lee said of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.<\/p>\n

While this is Lee's first year on the PGA Tour as a full member, he has played 34 events in the top tier already.<\/p>\n

He's now risen to No.31 on the Official World Golf Rankings and is the second Aussie on the list, behind only Jason Day at No.19.<\/p>\n
