R\ufeffeece Walsh<\/a> looks set to become the highest-paid player in Broncos<\/a> history, with the club tabling a lucrative five-year extension to the superstar fullback.<\/p>\n

According to a report from The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>, Brisbane have put together an upgraded long-term offer worth an estimated $1.2 million per season, which would see Walsh remain at Red Hill until at least the end of the 2029 NRL<\/a> campaign.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old still has another two years on his deal with the Broncos, but it's no surprise to see the club move to lock him down for an extended period.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Las Vegas prior to the side's season opener against the Roosters on Sunday (AEDT), Walsh revealed his desire was to remain with the club.<\/p>\n

"For sure. Obviously I've got my family down the road and I've got some really good mates, I feel like these boys are my family now too," he said.<\/p>\n

"I love it at the club, I love the staff, the fans and what the club is about.<\/p>\n

"We are building something really special here \u2026 I'd like to secure some long-term stuff. My management can sort it out when they want to."<\/p>\n

Walsh had a breakout season with the Broncos last year, helping them to a grand final appearance and dominating in the State of Origin arena for Queensland.<\/p>\n

The speedster has scored 20 tries in 60 first grade appearances to date, but has already become one of the NRL's most high-profile and elite players.<\/p>\n
