T\ufeffradies in Kenya are working round the clock to have a house built in time for the burial of marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum<\/a>, whose body will be laid to rest inside the house in a "heroic farewell", as promised by the government.<\/p>\n

Kiptum had been planning to build two houses: one for his father, Samson Cheruiyot, and one for his own family \u2014 his wife, Asenath Rotich, and their two children.<\/p>\n

Kenyan president William Ruto called for the construction of the two houses \u2014 one on Kiptum's farm in Chepkorio, where the Kenyan marathon sensation will be buried, and the other at his father's property in Chepsamo.<\/p>\n

Workers began building the house\ufeff on Kiptum's farm last Friday and are expected to finish the job on Thursday, in time for Friday's burial.<\/p>\n

"I have been promised by the contractor that the handover will be done [at] the latest [by] Thursday afternoon," said head of public service Felix Koskei.<\/p>\n

"All the experts are here to ensure we get a home that is near Kiptum's dream because he was a methodical man, if you look at what he was doing."<\/p>\n

Kiptum broke the marathon world record of Kenyan legend Eliud Kipchoge in the 2023 Chicago Marathon<\/a>, stopping the clock at two hours and 35 seconds (2:00:35).<\/p>\n

That followed two other mind-boggling marathons: his 2:01:53 at the 2022 Valencia Marathon, when he made his 42.195-kilometre debut, and his 2:01:25 at the 2023 London Marathon.<\/p>\n
