M\ufeffichael Chandler<\/a> is sick of waiting for Conor McGregor<\/a> – and now, the UFC<\/a> lightweight sensation has taken matters into his own hands during a wild live television appearance.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old has been slated to compete against the Irish legend for well over a year, but negotiations have continued to hit a stalemate as McGregor's future in the sport remains unclear.<\/p>\n

But during a surprise guest spot on WWE<\/a> Raw on Tuesday (AEDT), Chandler grabbed the microphone to take aim at McGregor\ufeff in stunning fashion.<\/p>\n

"You are now in the presence of the most entertaining UFC fighter on the planet," Chandler told the live crowd in Anaheim.<\/p>\n

"There's a man from Ireland that's been making me wait for way too long and I've still got one dude on my mind … Conor McGregor – get your candy arse back to the octagon.<\/p>\n

"We've got some unfinished business."<\/p>\n

While the pair have been going back and forth for the past 12 months and opposed each other as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter, the latest development could be a hint that a date for their bout is close to being announced.<\/p>\n

Last year, UFC and WWE merged to form the TKO Group, bringing the two biggest combat sports entities in the world together in an official capacity, with Sunday's UFC 298 pay-per-view held at the same venue as this week's edition of Raw.<\/p>\n

Chandler appearing live to call out McGregor was the first proper cross-promotional moment since the merger, and given the continued speculation regarding a showdown between the pair inside the UFC cage, this will only intensify those rumblings.<\/p>\n

Speaking to media on Sunday, president and booker Dana White<\/a> \ufeffremained coy on the details of the proposed fight, claiming McGregor's wealth was making it difficult to negotiate with the former two-division world champ.<\/p>\n

"Well, the first problem was that he broke that shin bone," White said.<\/p>\n

"He was recovering from that. That was one of the reasons we hadn't [announced his next fight]. The other problem is, he's f—— rich.<\/p>\n

"Anytime we get Conor, we'll be thrilled when he comes back and fights, but money complicates a lot of things. He just filmed a movie. He's gotta do the press for the movie and he's got obligations with that.<\/p>\n

"He does want to fight this year, but we'll see what happens."<\/p>\n

McGregor hasn't competed in the UFC since his devastating loss to Dustin Poirier<\/a> in \ufeffJuly 2021, while his touted opponent in Chandler has been inactive since his own defeat at the hands of Poirier in November 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
