J\ufeffared Waerea-Hargreaves<\/a> will finish his time at the Sydney Roosters<\/a> at the end of 2024.<\/p>\n

The veteran front-rower has cemented himself as one of the best forwards of the modern era, \ufeffplaying close to 300 NRL games for the Tricolours and winning three NRL<\/a> premierships with the foundation club in 2013, 2018 and 2019.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old\ufeff joined the Roosters after playing six games for Manly early in his career and has become one of the Bondi-based franchise's most beloved figures.<\/p>\n

"Sydney Roosters have been my home, my family and my passion for many years. I love the club and everybody who's a part of it and anyone who knows me knows what the Roosters jersey means to me," Waerea-Hargreaves said.<\/p>\n

"This hasn't been an easy decision but after discussions with my family and [coach] Trent [Robinson], I know it's the right one.<\/p>\n

"I'm proud to wear the Sydney Roosters jersey and I'm incredibly motivated to keep working hard to achieve the ultimate goal with my brothers this year."<\/p>\n

The statement from the Roosters doesn't confirm whether the Kiwi prop will retire from rugby league or continue his career overseas, with a report from The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> revealing discussions with Super League club, Hull KR.<\/p>\n

Waerea-Hargreaves \ufeffwill miss the club's season opener in Las Vegas due to a suspension from last year, but will be back on deck in round two.<\/p>\n

Standing at 192 centimetres, the Rotorua-born enforcer has been one of the most feared big men in the sport for more than a decade, with his physicality and aggression making him a dominant force in the middle of the field.<\/p>\n

Robinson paid tribute to JWH's incredible run in the red, white and blue, with the side hopeful of sending him out with a fourth premiership ring.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"He has been a huge part of the club's success over the last 15 seasons and there's no question he will go down in history as one of the best forwards to wear the Roosters jersey," the coach said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Waerea-Hargreaves will make his 300th NRL appearance early in the upcoming season and is on track to become the team's all-time most-capped player, likely surpassing Mitchell Aubusson, Anthony Minichiello and Luke Ricketson.<\/p>\n

On top of his stellar career for the proud franchise, Waerea-Hargreaves has also made 33 appearances for New Zealand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
