K\ufeffane Cornes<\/a> has ripped the West Coast Eagles<\/a> over their "ridiculous" decision to rock up to an AFL<\/a> pre-season clash in fancy dress costumes.<\/p>\n

During an intra-club trial match, players from the Eagles were dressed up in a range of different outfits upon arrival, including Elijah Hewett and Reuben Ginbey coming as a duo in their best Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift outfits.<\/p>\n

The decision from the club to display some personality and kick off their campaign with some fun didn't sit well with Cornes.<\/p>\n

Speaking on SEN Radio, the former \ufeffPort Adelaide star \ufeffblasted the Eagles players and urged them to take their preparations for 2024 more seriously.<\/p>\n

"I'm completely going to be on an island with this and I'm happy to be on an island on my own … pull up your socks West Coast Eagles, who turned up to their internal trial all wearing the most ridiculous outfits you have ever seen," Cornes said.<\/p>\n

"It's a takeoff of the NBA, it's a bit of fun, I get it, but there were players with overalls with nothing on underneath, there was players dressed as superheroes, there was suits with beanies, there were Hawaiian shirts.<\/p>\n

"It was ridiculous. For a club that has won five games in the last two years, I want a bit more professionalism and an attitude that speaks to that.<\/p>\n

"It's not Mad Monday, it's the first day of your season and we don't need you dressing up like superheroes and being photographs and plastered all over social media.<\/p>\n

"Let's get serious."<\/p>\n

West Coast finished with the wooden spoon last season, winning just three games all season, and will enter this year with plenty of pressure.<\/p>\n

New recruit Harley Reid featured in the internal game and showed plenty of promise, but the news wasn't as fortunate for 2023 draftee Clay Hall, who was forced off the field due to an ankle injury but should be fit to return within the next month.<\/p>\n

"I hate seeing it," Eagles teammate Jayden Hunt said post-match.<\/p>\n

"It happens in pre-season, the way we've got to push ourselves \u2013 which we have to do \u2013 one or two are going to go down, I think that's league-wide."<\/p>\n
