J\ufeffustin Pascoe<\/a> has lifted the lid on his exit from the Wests Tigers<\/a>, revealing he attempted to quit months before the final decision was made by the club.<\/p>\n

After serving for an extended period as the club's CEO, Pascoe stepped down in December after a major upheaval at board level that saw Lee Hagipantelis<\/a> dumped.<\/p>\n

The moves came after two straight wooden spoons at Concord, while a number of changes at the coaching and recruitment level centring around \ufeffBenji Marshall, Tim Sheens and Scott Fulton had caused havoc off the field.<\/p>\n

In a fresh interview with The Bye Round<\/em> podcast, Pascoe spoke openly about the situation and explained why he wanted out earlier than it came to fruition.<\/p>\n

\"Tigers<\/p>\n

"I'd actually drafted a resignation letter back in June or July," he said.<\/p>\n

"It was just becoming too challenging for me, not having the line of authority to do what I wanted to and with speed. I sent that letter to a couple of the board members, who said not to do it then and there and to keep going.<\/p>\n

"There were lines of authority and delegations that didn't always give the CEO full control over everything.<\/p>\n

"It was just becoming too frustrating that not everyone can stay in their lane, and my frustration is preventing me from doing the job I think I could be doing.<\/p>\n

"I just wanted the chance to be given that job to the best of my ability."<\/p>\n

As the walls continued to close in on both Pascoe and Hagipantelis, a fan-led review into the club's mess was conducted and ultimately saw the demise of both men, as well as a number of other key officials.<\/p>\n

The move came as a surprise to Pascoe, but he acknowledged the writing was on the wall rather swiftly prior to his exit.<\/p>\n

"I never really knew the review was going until it was going," he said.<\/p>\n

"I'm not upset with the outcome … I'd love to be there right now."<\/p>\n

Shane Richardson<\/a> has taken over in an interim capacity as the chief executive, with one of his first orders of business to fire the previously-mentioned Fulton<\/a> from his role as recruitment manager after a number of issues between him and Marshall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
