Jannik Sinner<\/a> won the ABN Amro Open on Monday morning (AEDT) in his first tournament since capturing the Australian Open<\/a> title.<\/p>\n

The top-seeded Sinner, playing his second straight Rotterdam final, beat Australian fifth seed Alex de Minaur<\/a> 7-5, 6-4.<\/p>\n

Sinner hit 23 winners and prevailed despite wasting a break advantage in both sets.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am really proud with the level that I played throughout this whole week,\u201d Sinner said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been in tough situations but we handled it the right way.<\/p>\n

"We will always try to improve, it is the most important.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sinner extended his perfect record against his Australian opponent to 7-0.<\/p>\n

The pair shared some banter on-stage after the match, having been doubles partners previously.<\/p>\n

"It's very tough to play against you," Sinner said.<\/p>\n

"It's better when we are on the same side playing doubles."<\/p>\n

De Minaur impressed in his win over Grigo Dimitrov in the previous match<\/a>, ensuring he will rise to a career-high No.9 in the ATP rankings after this tournament.<\/p>\n

He heaped praise on Sinner after the final.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I asked him jokingly if he's going to lose a match this year," the Aussie said.<\/p>\n

"He's playing an incredible level and just too good. I'll get you back next time."<\/p>\n
