The weekend's NRL<\/a> action \ufeffprovided plenty of highlights, and put the spotlight on a number of returning and emerging talents.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the Indigenous All-Stars\ufeff made it a clean sweep<\/a> across the men's and women's games with a number of star performers.<\/p>\n

The Pre-season Challenge also gave fans a look at how their side has progressed over the off-season \ufeffwith unexpected results throughout the first round.<\/p>\n

Wide World of Sports' The Mole<\/em><\/a> has run his eye over who provided the best highlight reels over the course of the weekend.<\/p>\n

Jye Gray<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In a scrappy Charity Shield clash with the Dragons<\/a>, this unheralded utility back was Souths' big surprise packet, came up with 159 metres from 14 runs and looked comfortable under the high ball.<\/p>\n

Jaime Chapman<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A wonderful performance in the Indigenous All Stars' 26-4 win over the Maori women, scoring two tries, breaking seven tackles and running for over 200 metres.<\/p>\n

Josh Addo-Carr<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Began the new season superbly in the Indigenous All Stars' 22-14 win over the Maori, scoring two tries and coming up with some great last ditch defence.<\/p>\n

Bronson Xerri<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Shone in his long-awaited return from a drugs ban, scoring a smart try and running for over 160 metres as the Bulldogs beat the Storm 24-12.<\/p>\n

David Armstrong<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A standout on the wing in Newcastle's 44-18 win over the Sharks, scoring two tries, laying on another and making three line breaks.<\/p>\n

Jackson Hastings<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rose to the challenge of new boy Jack Cogger, setting up three tries and coming up with a line break assist in the Knights' big win over Cronulla.<\/p>\n

Terrell May<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Coming off the interchange bench, the big forward ran for a game high 161 metres with four tackle breaks in the Roosters' hard-fought 36-22 win over Manly in Gosford to push his claims for a trip to Vegas.<\/p>\n

Kelma Tuilagi<\/strong><\/h3>\n

All but cemented himself a starting spot for round one at Parra with a team high 167 metres against the Raiders, including eight tackle busts, in the second row.<\/p>\n

James Schiller<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Scored a scintillating try from a 20 metre tap and ran for nearly 200 metres in the centres. The most dangerous attacking player on the field in the Raiders' 38-16 win.<\/p>\n

Jacob Laban<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A powerful edge back-rower who has yet to play NRL, he showed he is right in contention for round one in the Warriors' pack, scoring their opening try against the Tigers and hitting with venom in defence.<\/p>\n

Sol Faataape<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Didn't get many headlines when he signed with the Tigers from the Queensland Cup but shone in the centres, running strongly and setting up a try for half Aiden Sezer.<\/p>\n

Sione Fainu<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Tigers' young forward signing from Manly had a fine debut in the win over the Warriors, running for 162 metres, bending back the line regularly.<\/p>\n

Brendan Piakura<\/strong><\/h3>\n

At 21, looks set to make his mark this season at the Broncos, scoring two fine tries in the 46-20 win over the Cowboys. Shapes as an ideal replacement for the departed Kurt Capewell.<\/p>\n

Kulikefu Finefeuiaki<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Caught the eye with a barnstorming solo try for the Cowboys against Brisbane. The second-rower has size, speed and footwork – and could be a surprise selection for round one.<\/p>\n

Herbie Farnworth<\/strong><\/h3>\n

wasted little time justifying his tag as one of the buys of the year, scoring inside nine minutes in his debut for the Dolphins against the Titans. Also had a stint at fullback and looked very lively. Quality player.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
