The Australian<\/a> women's Test<\/a> side will be thankful for an extra day off after dismantling South Africa<\/a> to record an innings and 284-run victory inside three days.<\/p>\n

It's the second-biggest margin of victory in women's Test history, and the biggest since 1935.<\/p>\n

Annabel Sutherland was awarded player of the match for her incredible double-ton in Australia's innings, as well as match bowling figures of 5-30.<\/p>\n

But the Aussies are now preparing for a bonkers 18 months that will see them spend a significant chunk of time on foreign shores.<\/p>\n

Several are off to play in the Women's Premier League in India starting next Saturday, before the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh later in the year.<\/p>\n

The one-day World Cup will return to India in 2025.<\/p>\n

"We've got a cheeky little trip to Bangladesh after the WPL, and that's huge leading into a T20 World Cup over there at the back end of this year," skipper Alyssa Healy said during the presentation.<\/p>\n

"Two World Cups in the space of 18 months is huge for our squad, and you throw in an Ashes series in between, it's a really big, busy time for our group.<\/p>\n

"But I've never seen this group more hungry to play cricket and more excited to challenge themselves."<\/p>\n

Healy's side rolled the Proteas for 215 in the second innings, with the majority of Aussie bowlers sharing the load.<\/p>\n

Kim Garth, Darcie Brown, Ashleigh Gardner and Sutherland all took two wickets, with Ellyse Perry and Alana King picking up the other two.<\/p>\n

Having been skittled for just 76 in their first innings, the Proteas put up a far better resistance in their second dig.<\/p>\n

The Aussies made light work of the top order, reducing the tourists to 3-13 before Tazmin Brits (31 off 127) and Delmi Tucker (64 off 181) dug in for a 96-run fourth-wicket stand.<\/p>\n

Even after Perry had Brits caught by Phoebe Litchfield, Chloe Tryon (64 off 153) took over the role.<\/p>\n

But once Ashleigh Gardner took a return catch to remove Tucker, the Proteas lost regular wickets \u2013 Sutherland and King taking the last three between them.<\/p>\n

Having claimed the both ODI and T20 series 2-1, the Aussies clinched the multi-format series 12-4.<\/p>\n

Healy said she was "very proud" of her side.<\/p>\n

"I think it's been an amazing series. The white-ball series was really hard-fought and we were really tested at times," she said.<\/p>\n

"But the way we continued to bounce back right throughout, I think was really impressive.<\/p>\n

"To come here to the WACA and get the opportunity to play a Test match here to finish just caps off the Aussie summer for us."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
