As a new NRL<\/a> season approaches, Nathan Cleary<\/a> still can't believe what happened in the 2023 grand final<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Down 24-8 in the second half\ufeff, Cleary rescued the side and delivered a three-peat to Penrith<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The look of shock on his face in the post-match press conference was clear: eyes wide open, hands over the face.<\/p>\n

For the champion halfback, the \ufeffdecision to rewatch the game has only happened "a few times" and the feeling is still the same.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffTo be honest I still haven't come to terms with what actually happened," he told Wide World of Sports at the premiere of Undisputed<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

"I'm just moving on now and it'll be a great memory to look back on but it sort of feels like a movie, it doesn't feel like it's real.<\/p>\n

"I think that's something at the end of my career I can look back on and \ufeffbe really proud of to be part of the team that won three in a row and to win it like that was unbelievable."<\/p>\n

At 24-14 with 16 minutes to go, Cleary kicked a 40\/20 that just gave everyone a sense he was about to come into his own.<\/p>\n

It didn't immediately lead to a try, but it provided the momentum needed to complete the comeback.<\/p>\n

"You could kind of feel it (coming), pretty much the second half \ufeffI can't even recall what I was thinking, I was just sort of lost in the moment," he said.<\/p>\n

\"Cleary's<\/p>\n

"To be honest it sort of felt like an out of body experience, all sort of happening."<\/p>\n

\ufeffFrom hearing Cleary's explanation, the notion he blacked out isn't one he disagrees with.<\/p>\n

"Literally, I think I did," he laughed.<\/p>\n

"I was just in that flow zone where you're not thinking too much, just going with the flow but you could feel that momentum definitely building."<\/p>\n

Unexpectedly, Cleary's not the only Panthers player to have watched the grand final back.<\/p>\n

Winger Brian To'o admitted to WWOS he's gone back twice, although every time he visits his family, it's on the screen. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"I always \ufeffgo check in with (mum and dad) and see how they're doing, they love the Panthers and they're just always watching it every day," he said.<\/p>\n

For Cleary's halves partner Jarome Luai the feeling is the exact same.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I don't think it's still sunk in, just the way it panned out," he said.<\/p>\n

"We were behind by however many points, for the boys to turn it around like they did, it was like a movie. I treat it like a movie, like it's not really real. You can still watch it, it's pretty crazy."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
