Last year's NASCAR Cup Series<\/a> champion Ryan Blaney has walked away uninjured from an enormous wreck in the closing stages of the Duel at Daytona.<\/p>\n

With just 13 laps to go in the second race of the night, an accordion effect bunched up the pack and set off a chain reaction.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It began with Blaney in the No.12 moving out of position, causing William Byron in the No.24 to block.<\/p>\n

Byron moved up the road and slowed slightly. Behind him, Kyle Busch in the No.8 was getting pushed along by Brad Keselowski in the No.6 entry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With Busch getting a push from Keselowski, he went into the back of Byron and into a spin.<\/p>\n

Blaney got hooked in the right rear quarter-panel and the No.12 spun hard into the outside wall at nearly 300km\/h.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Several more drivers were caught up in the wreck, ultimately taking five cars out of the race.<\/p>\n

"I saw the replay and it looks like a terrible push once again gets me right-reared into the outside wall," said Blaney after being evaluated at the nearby medical centre.<\/p>\n

"The No.6 is into the No.8 and the No.8 is lifting and I get hooked. Some shitty pushes by people three times in a row at Daytona and now I've got a wrecked race car.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I'm getting pretty sick of getting right-reared by someone's awful push. Unfortunately, we've got to build a whole new (Daytona) 500 car."<\/p>\n

NASCAR Cup Series champion and Daytona 500 winner Kevin Harvick was left aghast by the incident.<\/p>\n

"That is one of the hardest hits that you can take in a race car when you get turned in the middle of the straightaway, right front into the wall," he said.<\/p>\n

"It is so violent and I am so happy to see him put that window net down quick.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I know the car was on fire and he wanted to get out quickly, but you could hear it in his voice how bad it hurt."<\/p>\n

The night's two races were won by Tyler Reddick and Christopher Bell, each only leading one lap of the race \u2013 the final lap.<\/p>\n
