Latrell Mitchell<\/a> has been confirmed as the captain of the men's Indigenous All Stars<\/a> team.<\/p>\n

The Rabbitohs<\/a> gun \u2013 of Biripi, Wiradjuri, Worimi and Gumbaynggirr heritage \u2013 will lead the side for the first time against the Maori in Townsville on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Speaking from All Stars camp, Mitchell said the honour meant "everything".<\/p>\n

"To lead my people is an honour that I don't take lightly both on and off the field," he said.<\/p>\n

"This week we celebrate our culture and get to go and express that in front of the whole nation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"This is much more than a game to us."<\/p>\n

Coach Ronald Griffiths said Mitchell was perfect for the role.<\/p>\n

"Latrell is a pillar in our community, his work away from the limelight is unheralded," he said.<\/p>\n

"He's a magical player who will go to the nth degree to make sure the All Stars camp is a success and will leave a lasting impact in the community."<\/p>\n
