2\ufeff004 Port Adelaide<\/a> premiership captain Warren Tredrea<\/a> has officially joined the club's board, as he sets his sights on their next flag.<\/p>\n

Tredrea led the Power to their one and only AFL premiership 20 years ago, with the hunger he possessed back then still inside him today.<\/p>\n

He will replace Kathy Nagle on the board, declaring he will do whatever it takes to "support" the players, coaches and broader club to reach that last Saturday in September.<\/p>\n

"This club exists to win premierships," Tredrea said on Friday.<\/p>\n

"It's now been 20 years since our last one. They're not easy to win."<\/p>\n

\"Warren<\/p>\n

Tredrea, who played an impressive 255 games and won four club best and fairest awards, is keen to offer his expertise to help the club take that next step.<\/p>\n

"History would say Port's been pretty close the last few years so if anything, you offer your expertise to somehow help the people who are paid to do their jobs to get that result," Tredrea said.<\/p>\n

The 45-year-old reflected on his time\ufeff as a player at the club, acknowledging that he had little to do with the board and larger club issues.<\/p>\n

However, he now recognises it is his job to bridge the gap between the players and the board to help reach ultimate success.<\/p>\n

"As a player, we didn't get involved in board votes or discussions or governance or those sorts of things," he said.<\/p>\n

"They're paid to be a professional athlete and that's no different for the coaches or support staff. My job is to support them," Tredrea said.<\/p>\n

Tredrea, who won Port's goalkicking eight times across his 14-year AFL career, expressed his eagerness to give back to the club he has grown up loving.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It's obviously an honour for a bloke who grew up here \u2013 I think at five years of age is my earliest memory \u2013 so for me to step into the role and to be voted by the members, thank you," he said.<\/p>\n

"I'm looking forward to getting my hands dirty and getting involved in the board and helping out.<\/p>\n

There's plenty going on, some good things and some things the club can be excited about."<\/p>\n
