The NRL<\/a> has slapped Panthers<\/a> hooker Mitch Kenny with a breach notice for an Instagram post over Christmas.<\/p>\n

Kenny blamed "trolls" for the post to his story, which showed Kenny's own face along with the caption "couple Boxing Day lines have got me in trouble".<\/a><\/p>\n

The post was referred to the NRL Integrity Unit<\/a>, and the league confirmed the breach in a short statement on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt is alleged Kenny engaged in conduct which has brought the game and his club into disrepute," the statement read.<\/p>\n

Kenny has five business days to respond to the notice.<\/p>\n

The Panthers also released a statement, confirming receipt of the notice and stating they will not be commenting further.<\/p>\n

Following the initial post, Kenny tried to smooth the waters, suggesting it wasn't him who created it.<\/p>\n

"Happy new year guys. Enjoy… and ignore trolls who grabbed my phone," he wrote.<\/p>\n

Kenny, 25, was the starting hooker in Penrith's last two NRL grand final victories, a role he is expected to keep into 2024.<\/p>\n
