Louis Lynagh, \ufeffthe son of Wallabies legend Michael<\/a>, is edging closer to representing Italy, according to multiple reports in England.<\/p>\n

Lynagh, 23\ufeff, was born in Treviso\ufeff and grew up in England.<\/p>\n

The pacey winger has been a Premiership star for London-based Harlequins and represented England at age group level.<\/p>\n

Lynagh was also picked in senior England training squads by Eddie Jones but is yet to play a Test, making him eligible for Australia, England and Italy.<\/p>\n

The latter is now firming as the most likely with reports claiming Lynagh was poised to sign for Treviso\ufeff-based Benneton – who his famous father represented between 1991-96.<\/p>\n

Lynagh was previously approached \ufeffby former Italy coach Kieran Crowley but turned him down.<\/p>\n

Lynagh's younger brother, Tom<\/a>, has moved back to Australia to play for the Reds and is aiming to emulate his father by playing for the Wallabies.<\/p>\n

Five-eighth Michael piloted the Wallabies to their first Rugby World Cup win in 1991 \ufeffand remains Australia's leading point scorer with 911 from 72 Tests which ranks 11th on the global list.<\/p>\n

Prominent rugby writer Paul Williams said \ufeffboth England and Australia would regret letting Lynagh "slip through" and described him as "the next Mack Hansen."<\/p>\n

Canberra product Hansen \ufeffleft the Brumbies to pursue a career in Ireland and has developed into one of the world's most exciting wingers.<\/p>\n
