A\ufeffustralian captain Mitchell Marsh<\/a> has come down with COVID-19 on the eve of the Twenty20<\/a> series opener.<\/p>\n

Marsh will don the armband for the short-form series against the West Indies, with several of the Aussie big guns having a rest before a tour of New Zealand.<\/p>\n

But Cricket Australia revealed on Thursday the skipper has tested positive for the virus, making it three cases in as many weeks for the camp.<\/p>\n

Cameron Green and Josh Inglis have also tested positive in recent weeks, but both were able to play regardless.<\/p>\n

Marsh, too, will line up in Hobart on Friday despite his positive test.<\/p>\n

Special COVID-19 protocols only dictate the infected player must distance themselves from teammates and staff before and during the contest.<\/p>\n

\ufeffMarsh will still captain the team, although it's unclear if he will have to distance himself from the toss before play – and he won't be able to shake the opposing skipper's hand.<\/p>\n

Marsh will also have to use a different dressing room during the match and will only be able to address his players from a distance.\ufeff<\/p>\n

He also tends to field in the slips cordon, but that will prove difficult on Friday.<\/p>\n
