S\ufeffouth Sydney<\/a> has announced premiership star Thomas Burgess<\/a> will leave the club at the end of the looming season.<\/p>\n

The Rabbitohs revealed the news in a media release sent at about 2am on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

He will head to England's Super League\ufeff and play for the Huddersfield Giants in 2025.<\/p>\n

Burgess, 31, played in the winning 2014 grand final with the Bunnies alongside his brothers Sam and George.<\/p>\n

Tom is the last of the three to finish in the NRL, with twin George ending his career with the Dragons and Clive Churchill Medallist Sam being forced to retire due to a chronic shoulder issue in 2019.\ufeff<\/p>\n

All going to plan, Tom should leave the Bunnies as the club's second most-capped player ever.<\/p>\n

He has amassed 225 NRL games with the club to date\ufeff, and can add as many as 28 more to that tally this year – although that many is unlikely.<\/p>\n

"I'm happy to know that my future is sorted but my immediate focus is on winning another premiership with South\u00a0 Sydney," Burgess said.<\/p>\n

"We have a huge eight months ahead of us as we work towards our combined goal of winning our club's 22nd premiership.<\/p>\n

"I'm excited about what's ahead here at Souths, and in England after that having the opportunity to take my young family back to the home land, but I won't be distracted from playing my role in my team throughout 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"We're aiming to finish 2024 on the right note for the team, the club and the members."<\/p>\n
