Gun Broncos<\/a> fullback Reece Walsh<\/a> will be hoping his newly-found fame in the US will help him in his quest to be on the plane to Vegas.<\/p>\n

Walsh shot to social media stardom Stateside after a video of him catching a throw<\/a> from legendary NFL<\/a> quarterback Tom Brady<\/a> went viral last week.<\/p>\n

The video showed Walsh catching a thrown on the run from the seven-time Super Bowl winner at a function in Brisbane last week.<\/p>\n

Walsh is among a string of NRL<\/a> stars forced to sit interviews with the US Consulate General in Sydney in order to be issued a visa to be let into the US for the Broncos historic season-opener against the Roosters in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

Speaking to 9News outside the embassy, Walsh revealed he and Brady had exchanged numbers, and that he would put a ticket aside for the New England Patriots great.<\/p>\n

"It's cool to see Tom Brady and experience that \u2013 hopefully we can get over there and show some of our skills and impress him," Walsh told 9news.<\/p>\n

"I have his number now, so I'll give him a call and let him know I've got a seat for him."<\/p>\n

Visa issues have plagued all four clubs involved in the Vegas double-header. At the crux is confusion surrounding which visa was required.<\/p>\n

To further complicate the matter, the US often blocks foreigners with criminal histories from entering the country, forcing those players into lengthy interviews.<\/p>\n

Walsh pleaded guilty to a drugs charge in 2021, and was inside the embassy for nearly an hour.<\/p>\n

Although still in the dark, he said he was confident he would be on the plane.<\/p>\n

"The people upstairs were lovely and really helpful, so I'm pretty hopeful it all goes well," he said.<\/p>\n

"I'm excited and looking forward to getting over there to Vegas."<\/p>\n

Brooks meanwhile was arrested following a street brawl in Balmain in 2017, but was never charged. He said he was confident of receiving a visa.<\/p>\n

Rabbitohs superstar Latrell Mitchell and Roosters hooker Brandon Smith will front the embassy on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The matches will be played on Saturday, March 2 local time, but due to the time difference will kick off at 1.30pm and 3.30pm AEDT March 3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
