Marika Koroibete is in the mix to join an exclusive club of three-time John Eales Medallists at the Rugby Australia Awards in Sydney on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

\ufeffKoroibete is the reigning Wallabies player of the year<\/a> and also won the award in 2019.<\/p>\n

Michael Hooper is the only man to have won the award four times while Israel Folau is the only other player to have won it three times.<\/p>\n

Winger Koroibete \ufeffhas been shortlisted for the award with prop Angus Bell, winger Mark Nawaqanitawase, lock Will Skelton and backrower Rob Valetini.<\/p>\n

Bell told Wide World of Sports that it was hard to get too excited about his own form in 2023 given Australia's Rugby World Cup flop.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I was happy that I stayed uninjured but it's a team sport so I wasn't really happy with the results," Bell said.<\/p>\n

\"Wallabies<\/p>\n

"My biggest thing is I'd like to be regarded as being world class and being consistently world class. There's always stuff you can improve on. You're never perfect. So I'll just keep that hunger to be better and keep getting better."<\/p>\n

Nawaqanitawase is also a strong shot at winning the medal after a breakout Test season.<\/p>\n

"As bad as we did, it did not go the way we want, I did have to take some good out of it for myself," he told WWOS.<\/p>\n

"I was happy with some parts of my game. I guess it's an incredible feat to be able to play for the Wallabies but to do it at a World Cup was pretty cool. So I was pretty proud of myself, I guess, to be able to do that. Obviously didn't get the results we wanted but it was a pretty cool experience."<\/p>\n

Wallaroos Georgina Friedrichs, Emily Chancellor, Eva Karpani, Ash Marsters and Maya Stewart have been shortlisted for the women's XVs player of the year.<\/p>\n

Centre Friedrichs won the award last season.<\/p>\n

Maddison Levi, Charlotte Caslick and Alysia Lefau-Fakaosilea are competing for the Shaun McKay Medal as Australia's best women's sevens player in 2023.<\/p>\n

Henry Paterson, Nathan Lawson and Dietrich Roache are shortlisted for the men's sevens award.<\/p>\n

Paterson was picked in World Rugby's dream team for 2022-23.<\/p>\n
