Russian star Daniil Medvedev cruised to victory over an exhausted Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second semi-final of the men's draw tonight<\/a> – and he rubbed in his dominance with some theatrical mid-match antics.<\/p>\n

The fourth seed could clearly sense Tsitsipas was struggling in the wake of his draining five-set epic against legendary Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals on Wednesday night<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So the 25-year-old decided to taunt the world No.6 Greek ahead of the third set, prancing past a seated Tsitsipas in enthusiastic fashion as the scoreboard read 6-4 6-2.<\/p>\n

Medvedev's tactics caught the eye of Nine tennis expert Sam Groth.<\/p>\n

"He just ran straight past Tsitsipas, pumping his feet, pumping the legs," Groth said.<\/p>\n

"He can sense he's fatigued. If that's not a sign that Medvedev is aware of what Tsitsipas is feeling I don't know what is."<\/p>\n

Nine commentator Todd Woodbridge even labelled Medvedev's antics "physical sledging".<\/p>\n

Medvedev clinched the match 6-4 6-2 7-5 to advance to the Australian Open final, in which he will face world No.1 Serbian Novak Djokovic<\/a> on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Medvedev served exceptionally well tonight and that showed in the statistics, with the 2019 US Open finalist snaring 17 aces and recording a win percentage of 88 on first serves. Tsitsipas managed just three aces and a win percentage of only 61 on first serves.<\/p>\n

Tsitsipas said serving was among Medvedev's leading strengths.<\/p>\n

"Let me tell you that he's a player who has unlocked pretty much everything in the game," Tsitsipas said in his post-match press conference.<\/p>\n

"It's like he's reading the game really well.<\/p>\n

"He has this amazing serve which I would describe close to John Isner's serve.<\/p>\n

"And then he has amazing baseline which makes it extremely difficult. So even if you return the serve, you don't guarantee that you're going to win the point. You have to really work hard for it."<\/p>\n

Tsitsipas doesn't have a clear prediction for Sunday's final between Medvedev and Djokovic.<\/p>\n

"I wouldn't be surprised to see Daniil win the tournament. But, you know, it's a strange scenario," Tsitsipas said.<\/p>\n

"I played Rafa (Nadal) here two years ago. I found his performance against me that day phenomenal. I was 100 per cent sure he was gonna win the tournament – and I ended up being wrong.<\/p>\n

"Who knows? I don't know. Like, Djokovic is playing well too.<\/p>\n

"Look, I'm not a betting website. I don't know what to say.<\/p>\n

"Might be Medvedev. Would be good for him, good for tennis."<\/p>\n

Djokovic, the most successful Australian Open singles champion in history, is set to chase his ninth title, while Medvedev will be on the hunt for his maiden Grand Slam tournament victory.<\/p>\n
