E\ufeffxiled former rugby league<\/a> players Joey Leilua<\/a> and Curtis Scott<\/a> are set to punch on in the boxing<\/a> ring.<\/p>\n

Leading Australian promoters No Limit Boxing will hold a press conference in Wollongong on Tuesday at which Leilua and Scott will be announced on the agency's first big fight card of 2024.<\/p>\n

A date has not been confirmed for the event, but it appears a certainty to be held at Wollongong Entertainment Centre – the same venue Paul Gallen famously knocked out Lucas Browne\ufeff in the first round in 2021.<\/p>\n

Leilua\ufeff, 32, was a prodigious talent when he burst into the NRL with the Roosters, playing in the losing 2010 grand final in his first season.<\/p>\n

He had stints at Newcastle, Canberra and Wests Tigers before leaving the league in 2021 and heading overseas.<\/p>\n

He has recently returned home and is said to be playing for Dapto in the Illawarra competition.<\/p>\n

Leilua had a reputation as being a hot head on the field.<\/p>\n

Scott's NRL career also started with a bang and he looked destined for big things, but off-field scandals have all but ended any hope of him playing professionally again.<\/p>\n

The former Storm and Raiders centre was last year convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and stalk\/intimidate with the intention of causing fear or physical harm\ufeff against his former partner.<\/p>\n

Scott had attempted to rejoin the NRL this year<\/a> but the governing body has reportedly blocked his return.<\/p>\n

While Scott and Leilua will attract certain eyeballs to the No Limit fight card, it will be headlined by rising Aussie boxer Sam Goodman who takes on Mark Schleibs.\ufeff<\/p>\n
