No team likes to be labelled 'chokers' – but Cronulla<\/a> risks being given the tag if it produces yet another finals fadeout in 2024.<\/p>\n

The Sharks have a roster right up there with many of the best teams in the league and have looked good in recent regular seasons.<\/p>\n

But the boys from the Shire have lost their last six finals games straight – a shocking record in the big end-of-season matches.<\/p>\n

Last year the Sharks met the Roosters in the opening round of the finals and were the better team for much of the game.<\/p>\n

When Roosters skipper James Tedesco was sin binned in the second half, Cronulla appeared to have the game for the taking.<\/p>\n

But they lacked the killer instinct and self belief and somehow the Roosters came back to score a one-point win, seeing the Sharks dip out of the finals yet again.<\/p>\n

Analysing last year as a whole, the Sharks had little trouble putting away the teams below them on the ladder.<\/p>\n

But over the 27 rounds they only produced three victories over top-eight teams – something they will need to improve on to make an impact this year.<\/p>\n

HYNES HUNG OUT TO DRY\ufeff<\/h3>\n

Nicho Hynes is the Sharks' main man and one of the game's superstars – but the Sharks have done him no favours over the summer.<\/p>\n

The club has released veteran Matt Moylan, a player perhaps past his best but still an experienced campaigner who could take some of the playmaking pressure off Hynes' shoulders.<\/p>\n

That leaves Braydon Trindall in the hot seat as Hynes' halves partner, and that could make things tough for the Sharks.<\/p>\n

Trindall is a talented player with tricks of his own – but is he ready to help steer the ship around for 20-plus rounds in a long and gruelling season?<\/p>\n
