A\ufeffustralia has achieved an Olympics<\/a> first by booking all four available spots for the 10km open water events at Paris 2024.<\/p>\n

While 25-year-old Chelsea Gubecka had already qualified, her Dolphins teammates managed to nab the other three spots with their World Aquatics Championships performances in Doha.<\/p>\n

\ufeffMoesha Johnson will join Gubecka in the women's field after finishing fourth in the Doha race.<\/p>\n

Johnson led the pack with only about 150 metres to go but was ultimately run down by three rivals, although managed to touch the wall fourth.<\/p>\n

Nicholas Sloman and Kyle Lee\ufeff booked their spots in the men's field by finishing fifth and ninth in Doha respectively.<\/p>\n

Their selections have to still be ratified by the Australian Olympic Committee but it's expected they will all make their Olympic debuts.<\/p>\n

"I know what it's like to miss out after Tokyo so there was no way I was going to let this chance pass," Sloman, 26, said after the race.<\/p>\n

"It hurt, particularly when the pace picked up in that final lap, but I knew I had to stay in touch with leaders."\ufeff<\/p>\n

While Sloman finished towards the front of the field his teammate Lee, 21, \ufeffhad to fight to hold onto ninth spot and qualify for Paris 2024.<\/p>\n

The young gun recorded a time of one hour, 48 minutes and 31 seconds.<\/p>\n

"I just can't believe it, I stuck to our plan and I guess it worked," Lee said.<\/p>\n

Swimming Australia high performance director Greg Shaw was ecstatic to nab all four available spots on the team.<\/p>\n

"Nic and Kyle today showed how open water is a race of opportunities and the power of decision making, this is a really tight group and shared intelligence of this group just keeps growing," Shaw said.\ufeff<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
