T\ufeffyson Fury<\/a> and Oleksandr Usyk<\/a> have a new date set for their blockbuster world title showdown following the challenger's recent training mishap.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old \ufeffsuffered a nasty split above his eye during a recent sparring session, forcing organisers to scrap the initial February 17 date.<\/p>\n

Fury will now look to become the undisputed heavyweight title-holder against Usyk on May 18 in Saudi Arabia, with both fighters confirming the news on Sunday.<\/p>\n

"I arranged to spar 12 rounds with four different guys," Fury said on The MMA Hour.<\/p>\n

"In round five, I got an elbow in the eye – a split eye – and obviously I've been to the hospital and have the 11 stitches.<\/p>\n

"They have the medical reports, they have everything. Have a look at the eye … Nothing much anybody can do about getting a cut. … I've never had one before.<\/p>\n

It's the second time the meeting between the division's elite competitors has been pushed back, with the plans for a December \ufefffight scrapped after Fury struggled to defeat former UFC star Francis Ngannou in November.<\/p>\n

Usyk and his team had been critical of Fury in the midst of the postponement, but the British star shut down suggestions that he was ducking his opponent. \ufeff<\/p>\n
