X\ufeffavier Bartlett has etched his name in the history books with a special ODI debut for Australia<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n

The fast bowler took 4-17\ufeff in Australia's dominant eight wicket win over the West Indies<\/a> at the MCG.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old's \ufeffincredible figures, which earned him player of the match honours, will go down as one of the greatest displays in ODI history.<\/p>\n

Bartlett's 4-17 came within the first 10 overs as he helped Australia remove 3-37 to rock the visitors' camp.<\/p>\n

He now holds the second best bowling figures of an ODI debut for Australia, coming in behind Tony Dodemaide's 5-21 against Sri Lanka in 1998.<\/p>\n

After being named the best afield, Bartlett remained humble.<\/p>\n

"Amazing way to start and contribute to a win, it's amazing," Bartlett said post match.<\/p>\n

He thanked captain Steve Smith, who notched an incredible unbeaten 79 off 79 deliveries to guide his country to victory.<\/p>\n

"It's incredible, to be able to be captained by him is quite surreal\ufeff," Bartlett said.<\/p>\n

Alongside Smith was Cameron Green (77* off 104) and Josh Inglis (65 off 43), whose commanding knocks set Australia up for the easy victory.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffAustralia has really done a job here on the West Indies," Mark Howard said on Fox.<\/p>\n

The hosts have now won 18 of their last 20 ODI matches over the Windies on home soil.<\/p>\n
