C\ufeffameron Green and Steve Smith have led a dominant batting display that helped Australia to an eight-wicket victory over the West Indies in the first ODI match on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Smith notched up his 33rd ODI half-century (unbeaten 79), as it looked all too easy for the No.3 batsman on the MCG. While Green's half-ton (unbeaten 77) acted as a confidence booster for the rising all-rounder.<\/p>\n

Laying the foundation for a powerful batting outing was wicketkeeper Josh Inglis, who smashed his way to a half-century in just 27 balls.\ufeff<\/p>\n

But it was young fast bowler Xavier Bartlett who was the star of the match, taking a scintillating 4-17 in his ODI debut for his country.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffDream come true, it's very surreal," Bartlett told Fox after his stunning bowling innings.<\/p>\n

As for veteran Smith, it was just another Friday night on the hallowed MCG turf with bat in hand.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"He's in so much control. It's been a Friday evening middle practice for Steve Smith, he's not put a foot wrong," Michael Vaughn said on Fox.<\/p>\n

It looked like the Aussies may have been forced to chase a massive total when West Indian batsman Keacy Carty took to the crease, smashing his best-ever ODI figures of 88 off 108.<\/p>\n

However, the visitors' tail did not manage to start wagging as they went on to lose 5-38 and were subsequently bowled out in 48.4 overs for 231.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Bartlett was named player of the match.<\/p>\n
