Queensland<\/a> coach Billy Slater<\/a> has named four uncapped players in his 34-man Maroons squad which will descend on Brisbane for a pre-season camp this weekend.<\/p>\n

Broncos playmaker Ezra Mam<\/a>, Roosters halfback Sam Walker<\/a>, Titans second-rower Beau Fermor and Cowboys forward Heilum Luki have been added to the selection mix.<\/p>\n

Mam was named at five-eighth in the 2023 Dally M Team of the Year. He scored three tries in the space of 10 minutes to propel the Broncos to a 24-8 lead in the second half of the 2023 grand final.<\/p>\n

Luki has shown glimpses of his enormous potential despite a horror injury run. The 22-year-old made his international debut for Samoa at last year's Pacific Championships.<\/p>\n

Walker and Fermor both featured in the Maroons' squad in 2022.<\/p>\n

The pre-season squad \ufeffwill come together on Saturday to kick off the side's 2024 State of Origin<\/a> preparation with community activities including a junior coaching clinic.<\/p>\n

"It's a great opportunity for us to get our Queensland players together before the season starts," Slater told Queensland Rugby League.<\/p>\n

"Obviously the (NRL) training schedule in preparation for their season is quite tight, so to get them for this weekend is really important for their preparation into our series.<\/p>\n

"We get to touch on a few things footy wise but more importantly we get to our players into our community.<\/p>\n

With coaching staff in attendance, new assistant coach \ufeffMatt Ballin will participate after C\ufeffameron Smith announced his shock resignation from the role<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Slater has led the Maroons to back-to-back series wins since taking over as head coach in 2022. This included the first series clean sweep in 13 years last year.<\/p>\n

This year the team will be eyeing their first three-peat since 2017.\ufeff<\/p>\n
