England<\/a> captain Ben Stokes<\/a> has confirmed Shoaib Bashir will make his long-awaited Test debut after visa complications kept him out of the first contest against India.<\/p>\n

Bashir comes into the side at the expense of Jack Leach, who is nursing a knee injury. One other change has been made with James Anderson replacing Mark Wood.<\/p>\n

The changes aren't like-for-like in so much that Anderson doesn't bring the outright pace that Wood does while Bashir is a right-arm off-spinner as opposed to the left-arm orthodox Leach.<\/p>\n

Bashir makes his debut in Visakhapatnam after visa complications kept him out of the opening Test in Ahmedabad<\/a> having only arrived on the fourth day of the match.<\/p>\n

England's frontline spin attack has a combined two Tests experience between Bashir, Rehan Ahmed, and Tom Hartley.<\/p>\n

Stokes isn't worried that the 20-year-old hasn't been part of the touring squad until late in the piece.<\/p>\n

"There's no worries and no issues for me that he's been away from the group for a period of time, then coming back in to make his debut," he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It's not like he's forgotten how to bowl."<\/p>\n

On Bashir's ability, Stokes said he's eagre to see what the young gun can do on debut.<\/p>\n

"The thing he possesses is that natural ability, where he releases the ball from, how much energy he tries to put on the ball," Stokes explained.<\/p>\n

"Someone releasing the ball from height and putting that much on the ball is going to get that natural variation. That is very hard to play against out here.<\/p>\n

"Some balls will skid, some will skid on. I'm fully backing him and looking forward to him going out on the field, hopefully putting on a good show."<\/p>\n

The inclusion of Bashir and Anderson underlines the fast bowler's longevity in Test cricket.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Anderson made his Test debut in 2003, 114 days before Bashir was born.<\/p>\n

This year marks the 22nd consecutive season of Test cricket for Anderson, who seemingly has no intention to quit yet.<\/p>\n

Anderson could become just the third Test player to go over the 700 wickets mark, currently on 690.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Only Shane Warne (708) and Muttiah Muralitharan (800) have surpassed that.<\/p>\n

"Bringing Jimmy's experience, the class that he has, is great and it also goes under the radar how good his record in India is," said Stokes.<\/p>\n

"Considering what Jimmy is known for \u2013 the 'Swing King' and all that \u2013 it just proves how good a bowler he is.<\/p>\n

"He has different skill sets that I will be able to exploit in Indian conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It's not just for the new ball, it's the other stuff he possesses as well. Lots of people should look up to Jimmy considering he is where he is at 41."<\/p>\n
