Former Australian captain Michael Clarke<\/a> has won the Allan Border Medal<\/a> four times\ufeff but that didn't stop him being made the brunt of a joke at the Australian Cricket Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 42-year-old's infamous Noosa incident with Karl Stefanovic<\/a> made headlines across Australia and a year on it's apparently still topical throughout the cricketing world.<\/p>\n

When interviewed by The Grade Cricketer podcaster Ian Higgins at Wednesday's awards night, \ufefffour-time winner Steve Smith<\/a> was reminded only Ricky Ponting<\/a> and Clarke have equalled his feat.<\/p>\n

The statistic was then followed up by a gag made at the expense of Clarke and Stefanovic.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"This year the winner actually gets a trip to Noosa with Karl Stefanovic, that's exciting," Higgins joked.<\/p>\n

The quip brought about laughs from Smith, as well as Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins in the background.<\/p>\n

Stefanovic had the chance to respond on Nine's Today <\/em>Show. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Great spot," he said of Noosa with a smile.<\/p>\n

2GB presenter Chris O'Keefe then referred to the joke as "stale bread". \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Let it go, put it in the bin, move on," he laughed.<\/p>\n

Asked by fellow presenter Sarah Abo to recommend any good spots in Noosa, Stefanovic \ufeffwasn't pleased.<\/p>\n

"You didn't have to double down Sarah, Chris just \ufeffsaid it was stale bread and you made it even worse," he smiled.<\/p>\n

"No doubt it will continue."<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Smith he wasn't able to break the record with Mitchell Marsh taking out his first Allan Border Medal<\/a>. \ufeff<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
