Australian Open<\/a> champion Jannik Sinner<\/a> hopes Aussie star Nick Kyrgios<\/a> will be back on court soon.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios sat out this year's tournament after a lengthy run of injuries hampered his 2023 season, instead joining Eurosport and ESPN's commentary teams for the event.<\/p>\n

After claiming his maiden grand slam victory at Melbourne Park on Sunday night with a 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Daniil Medvedev<\/a>, Sinner was interviewed by Kyrgios and delivered a heartfelt message to the former world No.13.<\/p>\n

Asked how much money it would take for Sinner to coach Kyrgios to a grand slam title, Sinner redirected the chat to his hopes for the fan-favourite's comeback.<\/p>\n

"I think, what's for sure, everyone is missing you," he told Eurosport on Sunday.<\/p>\n

"You are the kind of player you don't see around so often. Your game style, your way how to behave on court, and those kind of things, you are different, no? And this kind of player we need.<\/p>\n

"So I hope you are getting back \u2014 I'm missing you. It was a great emotion to see you after my second-round match, so I hope to see you back as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

"And, also, you are a potential grand slam champion \u2014 and I think you know it, so keep it up."<\/p>\n

Taken aback by \ufeffSinner's comments, Kyrgios praised the 22-year-old's maturity beyond his years.<\/p>\n

"It gives you an insight into how he is. He just won the biggest title of his life and he's very humble, a super nice guy. He just shows incredible maturity," he said.<\/p>\n

"And you can just already tell that he's got his sights on something else. He wants to keep achieving these amazing things and go after more slams \u2014 he's not satisfied.<\/p>\n

"I could feel from him that he's ready to keep going and he's going to be around for a long time.<\/p>\n

"I think we're gonna see him win plenty more slams in the next couple of years. Now he's got this one, he's just going to be unstoppable."<\/p>\n

Fronting media on Monday, Sinner had more words of encouragement for Kyrgios.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt would be awesome to see him back," he said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThere are not many players who have the kind of talent that he has.<\/p>\n

"He's still young, it's not easy. So I wish him all the best\ufeff, a speedy recovery, and we all hope to see him back on the court."<\/p>\n

Kyrgios sent the tennis world into a spin last Wednesday after hinting that he may have played his last professional match.<\/p>\n

In a column for the Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>, Kyrgios revealed he is considering retirement.<\/p>\n

"The reality is, there is a part of me that knows my time in the sport may be over. And I'm OK with that," he wrote.<\/p>\n

But in a bizarre \ufeffbackflip, Kyrgios soon dismissed claims he was retiring, labelling the chatter "absolute nonsense" in a video posted to Instagram.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios only managed one match last year after his season was cruelled by repeat injuries.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old missed the 2023 Australian Open after undergoing \ufeffknee surgery<\/a> and then had his comeback plans at Wimbledon derailed after he tore a ligament in his right wrist<\/a>.
