A\ufeffustralia could have its very own Usain Bolt<\/a> in the making, according to one Olympian – and he's still only 16 years old.<\/p>\n

Gout Gout rose to prominence last April after breaking an Australian junior 200m record<\/a>, blitzing an under-18s race despite being at least two years younger than the majority of the field.<\/p>\n

The teenage sensation clocked 20.87 seconds, shaving a remarkable 0.03 seconds off the previous joint record that had been held by Darren Clark, Paul Greene and Zane Branco.<\/p>\n

His performance made news across the globe, with his incredible time clocking in at less than 0.30 seconds behind what Olympic legend Bolt had achieved at the same age.<\/p>\n

Jane Flemming, who competed in two Olympics and is now the president of Athletics Australia, believes that Gout is a star in waiting and is destined for the world stage.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"There's a 16-year-old sprinter up in Queensland called Gout Gout, who if I've ever seen anybody run like Usain Bolt and built like him, he is it," she told 2GB's Wide World of Sports Radio<\/a> on Monday night.<\/p>\n

"He's broken our national under-18 record and he is only 16.<\/p>\n

The praise for Gout comes after another young star – Torrie Lewis<\/a> – had a breakout performance over the weekend, breaking the Australian open and under-20 100m records.<\/p>\n
