P\ufeffat Cummins<\/a> has come under fire for his post-match comments following Australia's shock loss at the hands of the West Indies<\/a>, with Test great Ian Healy<\/a> questioning the 'underachieving' side.<\/p>\n

After a previously-perfect summer, the reigning World Test Championship winners were upset by an inexperienced visiting side at the Gabba, with young quick Shamar Joseph<\/a> dismantling the Aussies in just his second international appearance.<\/p>\n

Steve Smith<\/a> scored an unbeaten 91 in the fourth innings run chase, but it wasn't enough to lift the hosts over the line, falling short by eight runs and ending 27 years of dominance over the Windies.<\/p>\n

During the post-match presentation, Cummins gave a glowing endorsement of the touring squad for their efforts across the two matches, while also admitting that 'part of him was happy to watch' the Test minnows pull off the emotional win.<\/p>\n

Speaking on SEN, Healy questioned the comments from the captain and believes he should be placing more focus on Australia's own ineptitude on their home turf.<\/p>\n

"I wasn't that happy with Pat Cummins and how he dealt with it," the former Australian keeper said on Monday.<\/p>\n

"He's a bit too glowing of the West Indies … I don't think he's paying enough attention to his side's underachievement.<\/p>\n

"Do you reckon they played brilliantly? We only had to chase 216, that means they didn't play brilliantly until the last day.<\/p>\n

"Australia let them into that match big time. Hopefully there was a question that got (Cummins') mind and his thinking on his own team, because that wasn't good enough."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Australia had proven too strong for Pakistan in a 3-0 series whitewash prior to the two-game battle against the Windies, but the \ufeffshortcomings of a number of star players including Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne has now been placed under a spotlight.<\/p>\n

While the breakthrough victory for the Windies led to an outpouring of support across the cricketing world, former skipper Tim Paine<\/a> believes that ex-Aussie players shouldn't be supporting the result.<\/p>\n

"I get it from a fan's point of view, but it annoys me when I hear past players commentating and almost barracking," he told SEN.<\/p>\n

"I find that really hard to listen to. It was awesome for the West Indies. It was not great for Australia. It wasn't a great performance.<\/p>\n

"I just don't like it. It makes me uncomfortable."<\/p>\n
