An inspired Ireland \ufeffmade history by stunning a previously dominant Australia 19-14 in a gripping Perth Sevens women's final on Sunday.<\/p>\n

It was Ireland's first women's title on the world series and came after Australia had \ufeffwon the first two tournaments in Dubai and Cape Town.<\/p>\n

Discipline again \ufeffhurt Australia as captain and try scorer Charlotte Caslick was yellow carded in the ninth minute.<\/p>\n

Young star Teagan Levi was then forced from the field for a HIA in the second half to further test Australia's depth.<\/p>\n

The South Americans\ufeff were imperious throughout, sparked by Marcos Moneta, who scored two tries and appears the quickest man on tour.<\/p>\n

Australia's Matthew Gonzalez scored a late consolation try in Argentina's 31-5 win, leaving coach John Manenti with mixed feelings.<\/p>\n

"We're not quite where we need to be and it's important that we learn to be in that environment and we're fighting for medals," Manenti said.<\/p>\n

"I think it's the first time we've been in back to back finals since 2015, which is a really good achievement for the boys.<\/p>\n

"What I'm striving for as a group is consistency. And so if we can put ourselves in that position, to be competing for medals, regardless of colour – the more exposure we can have with that, the better we're going to be playing under pressure."<\/p>\n
