An emotional Brian Lara has been left stunned by an "unbelievable" drought-breaking victory from the West Indies<\/a> against Australia<\/a>, ending over two decades of dominance in the Test arena.<\/p>\n

With an inexperienced squad, missing its former captain and rolling out four debutants, almost nobody gave the Windies a chance to push the world's best Test side in a two-game series.<\/p>\n

But in a shocking turn of events, the visitors pulled a rabbit out of a hat \ufeffto win by eight runs in the pink-ball fixture at the Gabba, with young fast-bowler Shamar Joseph<\/a> finishing with figures of 7-68.<\/p>\n

The victory was summed up beautifully by the authentic and emotional reactions from former West Indies captains in Lara and Carl Hooper, who were both visibly brought to tears during their respective commentary roles.<\/p>\n

"This is unbelievable," Lara said on Fox Cricket.<\/p>\n

"Twenty-seven years to beat Australia in Australia. Young, inexperienced, written off – this West Indies team can stand tall today.<\/p>\n

"Today is a big day in West Indies cricket. \ufeffCongratulations to every single member of that cricket team … what a wonderful occasion."<\/p>\n

During his post-match interview, Windies captain Kraigg Braithwaite took aim at one former Aussie player in a truly savage moment.<\/p>\n

"Rodney Hogg said we were pathetic and hopeless so that was our motivation," he said.<\/p>\n

"I want to ask him – are these muscles big enough for you?<\/p>\n

"My message to the group is that this is the beginning … this has to continue."<\/p>\n

Pat \ufeffCummins was full of praise for the tourists, despite the nature of the loss that put an end to their previously-perfect summer.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI think obviously disappointment after a loss but that was a fantastic Test match and fantastic series," the Aussie skipper said.<\/p>\n

"They had different ideas, they bowled beautifully and unfortunately, it was a bridge too far."<\/p>\n

A lot of the praise went the way of Joseph, who has burst onto the scene over the past fortnight and looks to be a star in the making.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old suffered a foot injury whilst batting<\/a>, but soldiered on to tear through the Aussie batting lineup on Sunday afternoon and put the final nail in the coffin to secure the historic win.<\/p>\n
