Sunday night's Australian Open<\/a> final had a surprise guest in the coaching box of Jannik Sinner<\/a>, with former AFL<\/a> premiership-winning coach Mark Williams on deck for the clash with Daniil Medvedev<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On the biggest night of his career to date, Sinner enlisted the assistance of the ex-Port Adelaide boss, who took the Power to a title two decades ago.<\/p>\n

While the move might have been seen as left-field on the surface, Sinner's coach – Australian Darren Cahill – has been linked with Williams for many years, with his dad previously playing for Port.<\/p>\n

"Ninety-five per cent of my coaching throughout my entire career was learnt through the Port Adelaide Football Club," Cahill explained.<\/p>\n

"It's just what I was brought up with, with my dad coaching there for so many years and being successful.<\/p>\n

"There are some habits and some cultures and some ways of coaching that never leave you."<\/p>\n

Williams played over 300 games during his professional career, before moving into the coaching ranks with the Power and leading the side for over a decade.<\/p>\n
