P\ufeffERTH:<\/strong> Australia will play New Zealand (women's) and the United States (men's) in the Perth Sevens quarter-finals after a mixed finish to their pool games on Saturday.<\/p>\n

In 33 degree heat, \ufeffthe pacesetting Aussie women rebounded from their shock to Great Britain by outclassing Canada 31-14 at HBF Park.<\/p>\n

But because they only finished second in Pool A, Australia's knockout date with arch-rivals New Zealand has come early on day two (7.15pm kickoff AEDT).<\/p>\n

"We want to beat New Zealand but the beauty of sevens is that anything can happen in those games," Madison Ashby said.<\/p>\n

"We knew it was going to be hot out there so all we have to do is the basics and play upbeat, tempo footy because our team thrives in the heat."<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Australia's men have a rematch with the US after losing to them in their opening pool match.<\/p>\n

Australia closed out pool play with a 19-10 loss to Ireland but \ufeffit was enough to sneak into the quarters.<\/p>\n

"We've got a clear understanding of how we want to play but just not transferring it onto the pitch at the moment," captain Nick Malouf said.<\/p>\n

"So frustrating in the fact that we know what we're capable of and it's not quite marrying up at the moment. But we're through to the quarters. Anything can happen here."<\/p>\n
